Being able to help women going through emotional and difficult times is really important to Katharine and one of the things she cherishes most about her role at Hair Solved London.
Katharine joined Hair Solved London at the end of March 2021 as she recalls…
“We had to wear full PPE, masks, visors, plastic aprons and gloves. It was such a strange time as I’d never worked in an environment like that before. But it didn’t make it anymore difficult to get to know clients at all. I think, if anything, it brought everyone closer together because we were all going through a global pandemic. Somehow these strange and unusual times brought us together in a way I hadn’t expected”
In her role as Senior Technician and Salon Supervisor she not only transforms her client’s hair but their confidence too. Katharine also plays an important role sharing her many years knowledge with the team and making the London hair loss salon such a wonderful place to work.
We were so thrilled that we were able to find some time in Katharine’s busy client schedule to do one of our ‘Five Minute Interviews”. It is a wonderful way to help you get to know the team better.
What did you do before you joined the team at Hair Solved?
I have worked at Hair Solved for almost ten months now and the time has flown by. But I’ve been working in the hairdressing and hair loss industry for over ten years.
What do you enjoy most about working at Hair Solved?
I love working at Hair Solved because I am passionate about what I do.
Coming into work everyday, getting to work with an amazing and creative team and getting to do a job that
makes me smile every day is such a privilege.
How important is the relationship you have with clients?
The relationship I have with our clients is the very reason I go to bed every night completely content. Getting to meet so many amazing clients every day; new or returning, getting to laugh with them and getting to share our stories every single day it’s just the most special feeling. Having a special connection with our clients is just so important to me.
Do you find it difficult to explain to friends and family what your job is?
I am so proud to tell people about my job I think what we do is just amazing and I couldn’t think of anything better to do with my career. Explaining it can be quite difficult as I find what we do is a very visual thing, a very visual job. But I always do my best to explain what I do until friends or family understand because I’m very proud of what I do and I want people to know about it.
I feel so lucky and honoured to be trusted enough for them to share their stories with me. I’m so proud to be there to be able to help even if that’s just by listening.
Do you find that customers get emotional when you talk to them about hair loss?
Speaking to clients about hair loss is something I find to be quite personal. I always want my clients to feel completely comfortable with me and trusting with me before stepping into a conversation about their hair loss. It’s a very emotional and traumatic topic and everyone’s journey is different and not everyone is ready to open up and that’s completely okay.
I want my clients to know when they are ready I will be ready to listen and show support and help in any way I can.
Do you find this difficult or fulfilling to deal with? Do you feel that you help them?
I find my job so fulfilling and I love every aspect of it but it can sometimes be quite emotional. We get clients from so many walks of life and some of our clients can be going through difficult times. I feel so lucky and honoured to be trusted enough for them to share their stories with me. I’m so proud to be there to be able to help even if that’s just by listening and most importantly someone to laugh with when they need it most.
How do clients react to their new hair?
Seeing clients react to their new hair is the most rewarding feeling in the whole world. I don’t think I’ve ever done a new Enhancer without being told by the client they are half excited half nervous and that’s 100% completely normal. That is why I always tell my clients to ask as many question as they like. I want them to be completely at ease and not sat there all day wondering and I love answering questions and making clients feel more at ease.
And I always find as they day goes on their smile seems to get a little wider and they get more relaxed. And then by the time they are cut and styled it’s always like looking at a different person who walked in the door that morning and not in the way most might think it’s not just the hair. It’s the confidence the smile on their face and their whole body language just changes and seeing reactions like that is just everything to me.
Can you tell us something about you that clients might not know?
I combine two of my passions on my Instagram account @katharineanneathome – building a dream home and
creating content that I hope will entertain and inspire people.
I’ve even been creating content for Hair Solved which will hopefully allow us to reach more women with hair loss and introduce them to the Enhancer System.
Thank you Katharine.
